Police appeal after boy hit by bus

POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses today (Saturday) after a boy was hit by a bus and seriously injured.

The 12-year-old was taken to St Mary's Hospital with serious leg injuries following the collision with the single decker bus, which happened at the junction of Trafalgar Road and Nelson Road, Newport, shortly after 9am yesterday.

The boy's injuries were not life threatening, according to police.

As reported yesterday, the junction was closed for around an hour and a half while police investigated at the scene.

No arrests were made.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to contact PC Simon Richardson, from the Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit, at Shanklin Police Station, by calling 101.
