Police appeal after Co-op incident

Isle of Wight police issued this CCTV image of the man they want to speak to.

POLICE on the Isle of Wight are hunting for a man who allegedly walked into a Co-op Store in Ryde and tried to make off with a laptop computer.

The man was reported to have walked into the store at around 2pm on April 1 and forced the lock on a cabinet before reaching in and taking the laptop, a spokeswoman said.

The man made his way to the exit, but realised he was being watched and dumped the laptop before making off towards George Street.

The day before, police believe the same man also attempted to steal a small digital camera.

He is described as a white male aged between 25 and 35. He was 5ft 10 in to 6ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing a red, long sleeved hooded top, black-rimmed spectacles, jeans and trainers.

Police appealed for anyone who saw the man hanging around outside the store or inside the shop to come forward. Anyone with information should contact Warren Cummings by calling 101.
