AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by Isle of Wight police after curry sauce was thrown over a bus driver.

Police today (Tuesday) appealed for witnesses after the driver of a red car threw a plastic container of sauce through the window of the driver’s cabin — covering her and the vehicle’s controls — just after noon on Tuesday last week (16).

The Number 2 Southern Vectis service was travelling along Great Preston Road, Ryde, at the time.

The bus driver, a 50-year-old woman from the Isle of Wight, was shocked, but uninjured according to police.

Investigating officer PC Al Spence said: "There were around 30 people on the bus at the time so some of them may have seen what happened.

"The passing vehicle was a red car. The actions were reckless and could have led to a road traffic collision because of the shock and distraction it caused to the bus driver."

Witnesses or anyone with information about the identity of the people travelling in the car, are asked to contact PC Spence at Newport Police Station by phoning 101.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
