POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fight in which a 16-year-old boy was wounded with a meat cleaver.

The teenager sustained cuts to his head and body in the fracas, which broke out in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, on Saturday at around 1am.

More than 40 people were involved in the fight and police believe the clash was between rival gangs.

The injured youth had spent the early part of the evening at a party in the West Indian Cultural Centre in Turnpike Lane.

He was taken to the Whittington Hospital after the attack, and remains in intensive care.

Police believe the teen's asailant was between 16 and 20 years old.
