POLICE on the Isle of Wight have confirmed they are investigating an incident at an Island League football match, when a Rookley player allegedly attacked players from opponents Brighstone with a plank of wood.
The incident is believed to have taken place after Rookley had won the Division 2 match 3-1 on Saturday.
Hampshire FA confirmed it would also investigate, pending police findings and the referee’s report.
*Police confirmed today (Thursday) that Jody Paul Wright aged 26, of Bowden Mead Close, Newport, had been arrested and charged with a public order offence.
He was bailed to appear before Isle of Wight Magistrates on Friday, October 25.
