Police investigate assault allegations

POLICE on the Isle of Wight have arrested three people in connection with disorder in Ryde last night (Tuesday).

Officers were called to Player Street at 7.45pm after a 21-year-old man suffered a suspected head injury.

The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment, however police have not given details about how the injury was sustained.

They returned to Ryde at 12.30am after reports of public disorder, involving a group of people and allegations of assaults and stolen property in George Street.

Two men and a woman, all from the Island and aged between 17 and 22 years old, were arrested and taken to Newport Police Station for questioning and remained in police custody today (Wednesday), a spokeswoman said.
