ISLE of Wight police are investigating an alleged assault against a motorist, which is said to have happened in Drill Hall Road, Newport, last month.
Two men are said to have approached a dark green 4 x 4 car parked in traffic in the road at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 26.
It is alleged one of the men opened the driver’s door and assaulted the motorist at the wheel.
The driver, a 41-year-old man from Ryde, received minor injuries to his face.
There is also an allegation a second man was carrying a baseball bat and damaged a window of the vehicle.
All three men are believed to have been involved in a loud argument, which would have been noticed by other members of the public at a busy time of the day.
A 28-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of assault and a 26-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
Both men were bailed until July 10, pending further enquiries.
