Finchley Bowling Club won a place in the semi-finals of the Finchley and District President's Cup with a narrow third round home win over Barn et. The visitors fought hard to pull back from a 13-7 deficit in the alst four ends, failing by two shots.

Scores (Finchley first): Fish, Howell, Schiavi, Triplett 14. Rusted, Seabright, Ede, Sturrock 12.

Finchley Victoria visited Barnet and completed a double with a 71-61 win in a closely contested match.

Victoria were unbeaten on all rinks, with the laurels going to Bill Dunn, Brian O'Donoghue and Derek Hall for their 20-14 victory.

In the quarter-final of the Finchley and District President's Cup, Victoria found Brondesbury a shade too strong and went down 17-10.

Club competitions: Two wood: J David beat J Newman. Handicap: G Dipple beat J Green.

In the Prentice Cup, East Barnet Valley beat Barnet 36-31. HOME: Gibson, T Greenwood, B Greenwod, G Chapman drew 17-17. AWAY: Harvey, Garwood, Francis, Curtis won 19-14.

EBV were also in good form on Saturday, defeating visitors Parliament Hill 64-58.

EBV rinks: Gregory, Catlin, Gibson, Boniface won 34-10. Harvey, Collins, Lawrence, Finalyson lost 16-27. Clark, Sieloff, Baker, Linnett lost 21-18

In a thriller, Potters Bar won at home to to Hatfield 71-70.

Potters Bar rinks: Bushwell, Perkins, Read, Edwards won 21-19. Frost, Massey, Bates, Lebaigue won 22-16. Wood, Bowman, Dann, Whittle lost 6-25. Stout, Hamshere, Barker, Pearce won 22-10.

Away to Hertford Castle Gardens, Potters Bar won easily 93-65.

Potters Bar rinks scores: Marriner, Mouland, Hill, Ashley won 26-11. Brooks, Hinksman, Winn, Edwards won 27-12. Grosse, Massey, Butler, Read lost 15--24. White, Stokes, Whittle, Thurgood won 25-18.

Bishopswood received a walkover when Mansfield were unable to field a team for their Prentice Cup (sixth round) match.

Bishopswood also progressed to the semi-finals of the Presidents Cup on Sunday with a 21-16 win over Hornsey. Their winning four was Panouka, Waisman, Doe and Lesey.

A tie, 85-85, was the outcome of Bishopswood's exciting match with a Maccabi team. Top rink was Ross, Bronze, Jacobson and Waisman. But their ladies lost 36-30.

There was a good turnout of members and guests for Friary Park's President's Open Day. The Reds, represented by Wales, Savage, Perry and Northwood with plus 19 shots (29-10) were winners, with the Blues, Tokely, Hemmings, and Millbanks runners-up with plus 18 (29-11).

Away to East Barnet Valley in a three-rink friendly, |Friary park lost 65-43.

Home to Muswell Hill in a four-rink midweek friendly triples, Friary Park lost 73-56.

FP rinks and scores: Layson, Hemmings, Moores drew 18-18. Baynes, Pearce, Northwood lost 18-14. Richenberg, Crainiey, Alderman lost 21-15. A Palumbo, Bullock, Vooght lost 16-9.

In the Finchley and District Prentice Cup, Friary Park beat Kingsbury 31-26.

FP rinks scores: HOME: Crainiey, Green, Toms, Alderman won 19-9. AWAY: W Palumbo, Pearce, Wilkins, Northwood lost 17-12.

The winning trip in the President's midweek drive with plus 29 shots (32-3) was Dyson, Ball, Northwood.

Barnet Men lost their unbeaten record on the Prentice Cup with a 36-31 defeat by East Barnet Valley. Rusted, Purton, B Day and N Day drew 17-17.

In a friendly against Batchwood Hall, Burton, Mayo, Jones and Sturrock won 26-10, and that was enough for a 73-68 win, although the other three rinks lost.

In the Day Cup, Barnet lost 34-31 to Oak Hill, despite a 20-9 win by Rusted, Fear, Seabright and Ede.

Joy for Barnet Women with a decisive 61-39 home win over Boreham Wood.

Winner of the Painter Cup was Mary Britton, with Prue Patrick runner-up.

On Thursday, HGH lost a five-triples match against Temple Fortune 98-71.

On Saturday, HGH won a thriller against NT Sports 51-50.

A good win over Temple Fortune in the Prentice Cup, 37-32, cheered Mill Hill. But in midweek they were beaten 62-41 by a strong Middlesex County team.

Mill Hill rinks and scores: Sutton, Attwell, Payne, Brant lost 8-20. Krause, Gibbins, Terry, Hurley lost 15-24. R Smith, Lacey, Cherry, Prior tied 18-18.

At the weekend, Mill Hill won a friendly against Friary Park 66-38.
