ALLEGATIONS that a vicious bull terrier injured five dogs and an owner in the West Wight are being probed by police.

The West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods Team is investigating a number of reports from the Freshwater and Totland areas, between April and June, where similar descriptions of the attacking dog were given.

Victims include a woman and her Irish setter, who were both injured while walking through the recreation ground near The Broadway, Totland, on Friday, June 12.

The dog was described as a white English bull terrier, or similar breed.

Police reminded all owners to keep their dogs under control in public places or face prosecution if the animal’s behaviour caused alarm and distress.
