Police station closes to the public

Shanklin police station.

SHANKLIN Police Station has closed to the public on a temporary basis.

The front desk to the police station, in Landguard Road, will remain closed for at least a month.

The office was shut due to the long-term sickness of two of the Island's team of station enquiry officers and another leaving to become a full-time police constable on the Island.

The Isle of Wight District’s acting Chief Inspector, Paul Savill, said: "Our enquiry officers are working to maintain a complete, normal daily service at the Island’s other main police stations in Newport and Ryde.

"People can still contact us by using the free emergency yellow telephone on the front wall of Shanklin police station, at the junction of Landguard Road and Carter Road."
