SHOULD the Isle of Wight Council introduce charges for foot passengers on the floating bridge — we have launched a poll today (Tuesday) to find out what Islanders think.
The Isle of Wight Council executive will discuss launching a consultation about charges on Monday.
A report to the committee states: "It is proposed the consultation will be Island wide. This will seek theviews of Island residents on the suggested introduction of a 50p eachway fare.
"Passengers under the age of 18 will travel free."

Ted Parker, you and Wightlink appear to be of the same mind, you don't work for their PR department by any chance?

50p? It should be £1 for foot passengers! Generate money for the council!

Well Ted Parker, it will cost me nothing because I never use it, but on behalf of all the people that this will cost over £100 per year, I would not be so simplistic. 50p if you only cross once and never again. £100s if you need to cross every day, and for some people £100s matter.

Seems from the cost of this ferry,<<<< http://www.dartmouthhigherferry.com/tarrifs.cfm >>>>Maybe the vehicle fares could be higher. Admittedly, they do charge for Foot Passengers, but perhaps more realistic vehicle fares could avoid introducing these new charges and the additional cost in staff and procedures necessary to enforce them.
