HIGH winds and choppy conditions in the Solent last night (Sunday) led to calls for the Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat.
The Isle of Wight lifeboat was first called out at 9.30pm to a stricken motorboat, which ran aground at Portsmouth Harbour.
The eight-strong crew had been stuck for around eight hours and had waited for the tide to come back in, but found a rope was tangled in their propeller and they needed help to be safely re-floated.
Shortly after towing the motorboat to its nearby berth, the lifeboat was called to secure an unattended fishing boat that had partly come away from its moorings, also at Portsmouth Harbour.
The crew secured the 35ft vessel before heading back to Bembridge.
