Rowers from across Europe gathered for the 58th Wom-en's Eights Head of the River Race on the Thames at the weekend.

Representatives of the Gre-at Britain international squ-ad helped steer Marlow to a convincing victory in the four and a half mile race from Mortlake to Putney.

Last year's winners Thames Rowing Club A came in second after suffering four last minute crew substitutions.

The Non-Tideway Pennant for crews outside London and the Thames Valley went to Nottingham and Union Boat Club A. The Overseas Penn-ant went to Swiss club Bel-voir RC, and Cambridge won the University Pennant for the third year running.
