FORCE TEN gusts brought some Isle of Wight ferry services to a halt last night (Thursday), while many homes in Newport were left without power due to a fault.
*A Southern Electric spokesman said an overhead line in the Newport area was brought down by high winds at 9.17pm.
Most homes had power restored last night, however 58 properties were without electricity for the duration of the repairs, which were not completed until 7.02am.
The Met Office warned earlier this week that there could be more bad weather to come over the weekend.

well the whole of Yamouth has been having powercuts (and blacked out for a good few hours in the evening/night) for the past 2 days.... doesn't get reported coz we're west of Gunville and nothing interesting ever happens out our way! LOL Or perhaps no one could tell IWCP online coz the power was cut to our laptops, back to reading books for me lately.... yikes!
