OVER 500 homes in West Wight were left without power today (Sunday).

A Southern Electric spokesman said that a fault on a high-voltage network at 5.35am had affected 518 homes in Totland Bay, Freshwater, Alum Bay and areas around Yarmouth.

A number of the homes had power restored when supplies were diverted, but had to be disconnected again while repairs were carried out.

A spokesman said that engineers were working on the fault.

*A Southern Electric spokesman has said that all homes were reconnected by 12.53pm.
