A POWER cut in East Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, has left 117 properties without power.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has confirmed that at around 8am this morning (Saturday) a problem with an underground cable re-occurred in the York Avenue, Castle Street and Well Road area.

SSE estimates that it could take between six and eight hours for the repair work to be carried out. Engineers are expected to arrive this afternoon.

This follows problems yesterday, with homes losing power at 1.55am. Engineers had carried out temporary remedial work, pending further repairs.
