Swanspenned back by a bubbling Bath

Curtis Johnson grabbed a second goal.

That old cliche about a game of two halves was never more applicablethan in this FA Cup 3rd qualifying round tie at Stompond Lane on Saturday.

Swans totally dominated their Dr Martens League opponents in the firstperiod, and a two-goal lead at the break seemed to have put them well oncourse for a place in the last qualifying round.

With the gusty wind increasing in strength and in their faces in thesecond half, Swans allowed the visitors to come more and more into thegame and after being pulled level it was the Stompond Lane side hanging onfor a replay.

Swans took a deserved lead after 22 minutes when Holloway played AndySayer in on the right and he made no mistake, drilling a superb low shotacross Hervin into the far corner.

Rake then made an exciting break from deep and when he played Johnson inthe chance seemed to have initially been lost, but the ball broke loose toJohnson again and he snapped up the chance to put Swans 2-0 up after 37minutes.

After Sayer should have clinched it for Swans, heading over from MattPearson's free kick, Preddie had to make another fine save atColbourne's feet as he broke clear.

Two Bath substitutes then combined to put them back in the game after 72minutes.

Following Richard's cross from the right, Swans' defence failedto clear and White scrambled the ball in at the far post.

Just three minutes later a Swan's attack broke down and when theball was cleared upfield Paul was too quick for Alan Dawson and he foundspace to flight a shot in the wind over Preddie's head to put theWest Country team level at 2-2.

Swans tried desperately to avoid a difficult replay at Twerton Park onTuesday evening but it was Bath who came nearest to clinching the tie, asin the last minute a header from Colbourne came back off the crossbar.
