A TOP-quality hotel could be incorporated into redevelopment of the defunct Harcourt Sands Holiday Centre, outside Ryde.
The potential developer of the Isle of Wight holiday centre, which has been shut for several years, has agreed to actively market one acre of the seafront site to attract quality hotel and conference facilities.
It said it would make the land available at subsidised cost to enable a developer to come forward.
ZeroC has also pledged to construct a new car park on part of Harcourt Sands for use of visitors to the next door Puckpool Park and also investigate what can be done to improve the park as an attraction.
The hotel and car park emerged from two days of public consultation last week, where councillors, business leaders and members of the public brought their "wish lists".
The company also pledged to maintain a green buffer between the Puckpool promenade and its development.
ZeroC managing director, Kim Slowe, said: "It is an exciting and a challenging site to develop and we would envisage it being able to support between 150 and 200 homes.
"A lot of potential developers are scared off from coming to the Island but we have been encouraged by the support and assistance we have received.
"We came to the consultation with genuine open minds and will be working with the chamber of commerce, Ryde Business Association, the councils and local people to come forward with a scheme.
"We hope to do that in October, to consult again and submit a planning application in the spring."
