ANGLERS are being reminded by the Environment Agency that the annual coarse fishing closed season started on March 15.
This applies to all rivers, drains and canals until June 15 inclusive. Although many still waters remain open, some have retained the original closed season or implemented their own. Anglers should also note that a rod licence is needed to fish any inland water, regardless of who owns it. Salmon and coarse rod licences are invalid from March 31. New 1998/99 licences are available from Post Offices.
