ANGRY residents of East Cowes and Whippingham are set to take part in a march tomorrow (Saturday) to protest against controversial plans to build a concrete batching station on the banks of the River Medina.

The application, submitted by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) would see a new facility built on land south of Cowes Power Station if it is given the green light by planners.

Objectors say the new scheme would be too close to the new Queensgate Primary School and the Royal Church of St Mildred.

There are also concerns about increased levels of traffic and the impact the proposed scheme would have on wildlife.

The march begins at 2pm at Cadets Walk, East Cowes, and will pass via the new Barratt Homes at Hawthorn Meadows before going to overlook the proposed site.
