WETHERSPOONS has confirmed its interest in opening a new pub in a former Isle of Wight police station.
The pub chain said this week that it was interested in acquiring the former Cowes Police Station in Birmingham Road.
Eddie Gershon, JD Wetherspoons spokesman, said the company would love to open another pub on the Island if a deal for the prominent building could be struck.
Plans were announced this year to move the police Safer Neighbourhoods Team to Cowes Enterprise College, allowing the sale of the police station.
As reported, several other stations around the Island are also set to be sold off.
