Public toilets to be refurbished

Older people need toilets in towns that they visit.
I suggest that whilst these toilets are out of commission temporary toilets of the portable variety are placed nearby.
If this does not happen the older people that need these toilets more than most will stay away and therefore not spend their money.
As I age I notice I need the toilet more often, it happens to us all.

Seems like a lot of money to me, I wonder what company is going to benefit from this.

If the council spends this huge amount of money they must guarantee they will not then close them in a few years time. They ask for our suggestions then take no notice.

Well then Mr David Walker why do you use foul words calling people who do no more than come to the island and support your bussnesses and the island economy to me and many others it just d ont make sence it was not meant as a personel comment the mainland people seem to be an island scapegoat to many islanders for many of the island internal problems problems

You wouldn't be able to get to the toilets in Sandown because of the mountains of refuse blocking the pavement. Seperately, more pressing perhaps would be the erection of special basins for vomit, because it seems that a huge number of our fellow Islanders are regularly caught short, perhaps after a dodgy prawn, and the poor devils have no option other than to demean themselves by puking all over the high streets of our towns. This is not the third world - I demand public vomit basins now!

@ Robert Smith - it only says the 'first' toilets to be refurbished, not the 'only' toilets to be refurbished. Personally I am surprised the Council are not selling them off to be run by private firms, everything works better if the Council are not involved.

Its simply comical that this council can rob our assets, decimate our tourist trade and then throw our piecemeal packages to be lauded by the CP. Where is the £3million cut from frontline social care Mr, Council....another example of money robbed from us that disapeears into council coffers....like £2/3 million a year they were supposed to spend on our roads.

If my maths is correct that £83.3K per toilet. Pardon the pun BUT someone is TAKING the ****. They must be GOLD plated BOG'S. At US the tax payers expense..........I for one would like to see how they worked this on out.

I wonder if David knows how much the mainland people pay the I O W coucil and those winter layabouts on the island on the NAB and yes do close them in the winter because they will only get vandalised because they have not got anything else to do d ont walker far David Walker or you will fall of the end of your little world
