Puckpool: Firm has no plans for land

A DEVELOPMENT company has confirmed it has no plans to build on Ryde land campaigners want to protect for public use by turning it into a village green.

ZeroC said this week the option it had secured to develop the derelict Harcourt Sands holiday centre did not extend to the eight acres of the former Isle of Wight holiday centre's golf course on the other side of Puckpool Hill.

That is owned by a Channel Islands-based company, which said it would resist the village green registration but has not said what it wants to do with the land.

ZeroC managing director Kim Slowe said his company was continuing to work on development plans for Harcourt Sands and would consult on them further before submitting a planning application next year.
