10:00 With the Parade packed and crowds gathered across the rest of Cowes, County Press reporter Jamie White estimates there is well in excess of 12,000 people gathered to welcome the Queen.

"There are Union flags hanging from balconies everywhere and you could not fit more people down here. There is a really good atmosphere," said Jamie.

09:33 Isle of Wight Council has advised that there are still spaces at Northwood House temporary event carpark. At around 9.25am the Park Road car park was reported to be almost full.

I meant to say Mr Gareth Balch conducted the Cowes Enterprise College Band and that the band (30 strong) also played a piece called 'Hit It' which Mr Balch composed specially for the band.

Congratulations to Cowes Enterprise College Band, who played a selection of music at the RNLI when the Queen was there, including a march called Sheena Louise specially written by Alan Ingram, the National Anthem and hymns during the service. It's a real disappointment that these dedicated and talented children were not referred to in your coverage of this event, despite all other participants having been mentioned.

In the UK the full stop goes after the quotation marks unless it is a part of the quotation. It then precedes the quotation marks.
In the US the full stop always precedes the quotation marks.

Can't beat a debate about grammar on t'internet. I'm sure you're all correct but if the sentence was "The Royal couple is/are on holiday in Canada" or "The Royal couple is/are getting married on April 29th" I would probably say "are." Which may well be wrong! I am also worried now about where to put my full stop after the word "are" is it before or after the quotation marks? Let me know when I come back from the beach later.....

For goodness sake, get a life!!
Stop with the complete and utter pedantic commentary about grammar correction and try to focus on the positives of this report. What a glorious day and I feel very proud that Cowes was a town on the Royal Jubilee Tour.

Well done to Cowes Enterprise College Band, who played a selection of music at the RNLI when the queen was there, including a march specially written by Island composer Alan Ingram. The students did extremely well, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of them any where.

I am so happy that the weather is at its best for the royal visit, all that rain and dull weather we have just had.

Indeed it has, but that's probably because when the initial article was posted the Royal Couple was still due to take part in the parade of sail, and now that the parade of sail has finished, the article has been updated to reflect that.
