THIS YEAR'S Isle of Wight Race for Life has become the latest casualty of the wet weather.
The race was due to take place on July 29 at Seaclose Park, however after a meeting with Medina Leisure Centre staff today (Wednesday) organisers said it was decided the venue was unusable because of the water-logged ground.
More rain is forecast over the coming weeks.
There are no plans to re-arrange the event, according to area event manager Rachel White.

Hi All I've discovered that the Portsmouth Race for Life is on Sunday 22nd at 11.30. It is being held on Southsea Common, which is quite flat. Right next to the Hovertravel TerminalI took the liberty of contacting Hovertravel to ask if they'd be willing to offer a discount and they have agreed a 20% discount on a day return journey, for runners only, on that day.I haven't spoken to the Race for Life organisers about this so hopefully, if anyone is keen to still run and can do the 22nd they will agree to it.Thanks

If anyone knows someone who was doing this then please urge them to look on Facebook as I have started a group to decide when and where. Everyone is welcome to join us on the 29th at Appley seafront. xx

I think we are going to do our walk around Appley seafront on that Sunday. I cannot give sponsorship back and need to do something to feel I have earned the respect people have given by donating. If anyone interested maybe we can set up an alternative walk for life !

What a huge disappointment - please dont give in to the weather - think of all those suffering with breast cancer - we need to support them. Why not use the old railway route from Newport to Cowes?

Why not just do it somewhere else on the Island, all these things being canceled due to wet ground is just amazing me :(
