HEAVY rain across the Isle of Wight today (Boxing Day) has flooded roads and caused landslips.

Drivers should take care around Binstead, Brading, Brighstone, Arreton and Limerstone, where several roads are reported to have flooded.

According to the Isle of Wight Council, the revetment between Sandown and Shanklin, by Littlestairs Steps, has been closed due to a landslip.

Longdown Steps, in Ventnor, between South Street and St Catherine's Street, has been closed due to a collapsed wall, and large cracks have appeared in the sea wall between Totland and Colwell.

Shortly after 10am today, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to a flooded house at Ventnor.

Firefighters used buckets to clear flood water from the basement of the Park Avenue property.

*Niton Road, Rookley, has been closed due to flooding and Princelett Shute, Apse Heath, has been closed due to a landslide.

A flood alert has been issued for the Eastern Yar.
