Mill Hill 24

Lensbury 20

Mill Hill went a long way towards easing their relegation fears with a hard-won victory over Lensbury.

In perfect conditions Mill Hill made the ideal start, with the forwards getting to work with a vengeance, driving over second row Jon Milne for the opening try, Lawrence Pollock converting.

Lensbury replied with a penalty, and the game settled into a battle for supremacy between the two packs. Time and time again Hill were frustrated just short of the line, but they weren't to be denied and Milne plunged over for his second try to make it 12-3.

But Lensbury again hit back straight away, their right wing being felled by a high tackle to earn a penalty try which narrowed the gap to two points.

The visitors took the lead with an unconverted try just before the break, and although Mill Hill went back onto the offensive straight after the restart, Lensbury stood firm.

It was replacement No. 8 Bill Parker, on for the injured Ian Pollock, who got Hill back on track, catching the defence cold to go over from a quick tap penalty, Pollock converting to make it 19-15.

Winger Colin Hutton increased the lead after charging down a clearance, and although Lensbury got a well-deserved try late on, it wasn't enough to prevent Mill Hill taking the points.
