Leyton Orient..............1 (Nationwide League Div Three)

THE battle of the form sides unsurprisingly ended all square on Tuesday night (writes Matthew Porter).

Tommy Taylor started with the same 11 that began against Hull on Saturday but the Shrews provided a much stiffer test.

In the first half, Orient were pinned in their own half with the Shrews coming at them from all sides.

The O's defended with their usual commitment and although Chris MacKenzie was forced into three saves, he always looked like preserving the O's fifth consecutive clean sheet. There was just one hairy moment when he misjudged a long throw.

The first chance for the O's came after 25 minutes when Carl Griffiths's effort was well saved.

The Shrews snatched the lead with a goal deep into injury time of the first half. Poor positioning by the Orient defence left Jobling unattended and he found Berkley who fired into the corner.

But the equaliser arrived only four minutes after the restart from a corner. Matt Lockwood swung the ball in for Dean Smith to power home a nearpost header.

That changed the face of the match. Orient's two wingbacks Lockwood and Wim Walschaerts causing problems and Martin Ling finding space in midfield

Kwame Ampadu saw a shot sail over the bar and Wilding was fortunate not to be sent off for bringing down Richards. Griffiths chipped wide and Richards was denied again when his scrambled effort was cleared off the line .

Orient: MacKenzie, Walschaerts, Lockwood (R.Joseph), Smith, Hicks, Clark, Ling, Ampuadu, Griffiths, Richard, Beall. Subs not used: M.Joseph, Maskell.
