A REFURBISHMENT of Ryde Post Office at McColl’s store in Union Street next month will lead to it having better facilities and increased opening hours.
It will have four screened counter positions and a low level writing desk will be installed to benefit customers in wheelchairs.
The Post Office will close for refurbishment on Tuesday, September 24, at 5.30pm and re-open two days later at 1pm. The shop will remain open during the work.
During closure for refurbishment the alternative offices are Seaview Post Office, Dobsons, 4 Pier Road, Seaview, and the Post Office in Ryde High Street.
Post Office regional network manager Will Russell said: "We understand how important having a post office is to residents in this area of Ryde and we are confident that the new branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
Opening hours will be extended by more than 20 hours a week. It will be open from 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am to noon on Sundays.
