VOTER registration forms are being delivered to 7,000 homes across the Island so residents can get the chance to help elect a new police commissioner for the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
The poll is set to take place on November 15 and the annual canvass of electors has been brought forward to make sure the register is as accurate as possible.
The updated register will be published in October and will also be used for the elections to the Isle of Wight Council and town and parish councils in May 2013.
Even if there have been no changes to your household, it is vital that the form is returned. If it is not, voters could lose out on being able to choose the new commissioner.
Residents also have the right to have their names excluded from the edited register which is made available to commercial organisations.
However, everyone’s name must appear on the full register which can be inspected at customer services in County Hall, Newport.
Forms should be returned by August 6 to avoid a reminder being sent. If your household has not received a form by the end of June, please call electoral services at the Isle of Wight Council on 01983 821000.
