PLANS to build 440 new homes in Harlow have been given the green light by town councillors

After months of public consultation, members decided to grant outline planning permission to the development in New Hall Farm, London Road, at their meeting last Wednesday.

The plans fall into line with Essex County Council's draft structure plan, which has proposed that 5,400 new houses should be built in Harlow by 2011.

Half of these have been built or are currently being developed on existing sites such as Church Langley. But more homes could be planned for land near Gilden Way, Harlow, in addition to the New Hall Farm development.
