Pinner's superstar was almost knighted "Sir John Elton" thanks to a slip-up by the head of the Queen's household.
The singer was receiving his knighthood at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday when he was wrongly announced by Lord Camoy.
Sir Elton saw the funny side of the mistake and has asked that it is not changed in his video of the occasion.
"I am extremely proud," said Sir Elton, who was accompanied by his mother, Sheila Farebrother. "I love my country and to be recognised in such a way. I can't think of anything better."
