RHYTHMTREE organisers have revealed their latest headliner — The Lightning Seeds.
Ian Broudie’s skill in writing and producing catchy and uplifting songs that have more than stood the test of time has secured his songwriting reputation.
Marvellous, Lucky You, Perfect, Ready or Not and probably the greatest football song ever — Three Lions — are in included in the repertoire.
One of his earliest hits The Life of Riley, which was written for his son when he was just a toddler, now takes on an extra charm as Riley will be up on stage playing guitar alongside his dad.
Warming things up for The Lightning Seeds is a lung-busting big brass band treat.

After the main stage entertainment finishes the Didg Cafe hosts a very special set from Beans on Toast who, following numerous sold out headline tours and eight albums, has developed a big following with his quick wit and uniquely personal protest and love songs.
Earlier in the day Yorkston/Thorne/Khan play. The unique trio with a special Isle of Wight connection are currently receiving rave reviews and radio airplay for their just released second album Neuk Wight Delhi Allstars.
The unlikely but compelling combination of renowned Island-based double bass player John Thorne (known best perhaps as bassist for Lamb) with the acclaimed Scottish singer songwriter/novelist James Yorkston and award winning saranghi player and singer Suhail Yusuf Khan make their Isle of Wight debut at Rhythmtree.
Among the other Saturday treats there are the nine piece calypso, cumbia afro-Latin party band Dende, Julie Murphy, Deborah Rose and Mari Randle and Will Pound.
Pound is only young but is already regarded as one of the best harmonica players in the UK and will be appearing with accordion player Eddie Jay.
Rock singer Ellis Bailey, the wholly unique Mad King Ludwig and the Mojo Co are also on the bill.
Rhythmtree’s Pete Holden said: “This is a weekend produced entirely by Islanders and the support we’ve had from our Island audience over the past few years has really put us on the musical map.
“Word has spread that it is great event to play at with a lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere and a really mixed audience of all ages and now many great acts want to come and play on our beautiful site at Three Gates Farm at Calbourne.
“The Lightning Seeds, Stereo MC’s and The Blockheads have more than 20 UK chart hits between them so as well as having the opportunity to hear great music from five continents and to catch the best of the Island’s home-grown talent there’s going to be more than ever before for our audience to sing along to.”
Rhythmtree takes place from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 16 at Three Gates Farm, Shalfleet.
