NINETEEN drivers were arrested on the Isle of Wight for drink-driving as part of Hampshire Constabulary’s 'Smashed’ campaign.
The figure compares to 16 drivers arrested for drink-driving on the Island during the Christmas and New Year's Eve period in 2011.
The campaign, which ran from December 1 to January 1, saw police target people they suspected of driving under the influence of drink or drugs, on the way home from nights out or the morning after.
