A LIFEBOAT team from the Isle of Wight was called to a Solent fort this morning (Tuesday), where a man was suffering from a suspected stroke.
Bembridge RNLI was called at 1:03am after the 60-year-old worker at No Man's Land Fort, off Seaview, was taken ill.
The lifeboat reached the fort 20 minutes later and the casualty was put on to a stretcher and lowered 25ft to the boat by rope, as the crane had broken down.
The crew arrived at Camber Dock, Portsmouth Harbour, at 2:08am where the man was transferred to hospital, according to an RNLI spokesman.
