A VILLAGE that was cut in two following the collapse of its main road, has been reunited after Island Roads completed repair work today (Wednesday).
Main Road, Havenstreet, had been closed since January 9, making it impossible for people to drive from one end of the village to the other.
It re-opened this afternoon, according to Island Roads.
The re-opening should help alleviate recent traffic delays between Ryde and Newport, caused by roadworks in Wootton.

I hope all is back to normal now for the locals?

I'm not sure about it being 'reunited' but apart from the minor inconvenience of having a longer journey into Newport since the closure it has been absolute bliss not having the droves of cars speeding through the village twice a day! As for alleviating the road works at Wootton - I thought these were also removed yesterday!?
