BESTIVAL-bosses have been praised for their romantic spirit after helping to make it an unforgettable weekend for one couple.
With the help of the Bestival team Viv Craske proposed to his fiancée Jenny Engvall, via the big screens at the side of the main stage.
"I e-mailed them two or three months ago and asked them if they could help me. I told them I wanted to do something special and they said they would love to help," said Viv, of Brighton.
As Viv and Jenny joined the crowd waiting for Sigur Ros, Viv pointed to the screens where a newsflash message had appeared. As Jenny looked round she was met by a short video of Viv that ended with him prompting himself to get down on one knee.
"When I got down on one knee lots of people realised what was happening and when she said yes, everyone started cheering. For about five minutes afterwards we had people coming up and giving us hugs.
"The kindness of Bestival in making it happen was incredible. They really went the extra mile and you would not get that with a big corporate festival."
The romantic moment was captured by Isle of Wight Bestival-goer Wendy Varley.
"When he asked on screen "has she said yes?" I realised they were right behind me. Everyone was applauding and laughing and rushing forward to congratulate them both. It was lovely to witness," she said.
