WITH regard to your article `Labour wins By-Election,' I noted with anger Cllr Jeff Rodin's remark that the 190 votes won by Mr Course were really intended for the official Labour candidate. How smug and arrogant can you get?
I voted for Richard Course intentionally because the present Labour administration is `carrying out' Tory policies (such as closure of homes for the elderly and privatising the home care service). If it is not possible for the council to break even, with these services, the only way they can be viable for the private sector is by a drop in the care standard for the vulnerable and a cut in the living standard for the staff. Small wonder the Conservatives are claiming victory.
