A DEDICATED band of fundraisers, many with heart conditions, have rowed an incredible 115,000 metres.

Around 40 members of the Isle of Wight Heart Care Club took part in a sponsored rowathon yesterday (Sunday) at The Fitness Factory, Newport, to raise money for the club's cardiac rehab classes.

They completed the relay challenge, taking turns of two rowing machines, within their six hour target.

The 115,000 metre distance equates to a little over 70 miles, the equivalent of rowing around the Isle of Wight.

Fitness Factory over Steve Milton said: "Most of the rowers were members of the heart care club and have a heart condition of some kind, so we had people of different abilities taking part.

"Everyone worked really hard, and we had volunteers serving tea and cake to keep them going."
