Royal visit for Isle of Wight businesses

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, arrives in Newport, Isle of Wight with Lord Lieutenant Maj Gen Martin White.

THE DUKE of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has arrived on the Isle of Wight for his second visit in a matter of weeks.

Following his visit to Cowes with The Queen in July, the Duke returned to the Isle of Wight today (Monday) for a series of engagements, which began with lunch at the County Club, Newport.

During the lunch he met with members of the business community and the Young Chamber project.

That was followed with a visit to a mobile health unit, run by the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Industry, in St James’ Square.

This afternoon he was due to visit family business AJ Wells and Son, to unveil a plaque marking its 40th anniversary.
