ISLANDERS who discover birds affected by the mysterious, glue-like, substance that has been found on hundreds of guillemots across the south coast have been advised to contact the RSPCA.
One affected bird has already been found on the Isle of Wight and there are fears more could be washed ashore in coming days.
Rescuers used margarine and olive oil to remove the substance and it is hoped the bird will be freed soon.
Dog walkers are advised to keep their pets on leads and the birds should not be picked up as experts are still yet to identify the substance and it may cause stress to the animals.
Peter Venn, manager of the RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife Centre in Somerset, said people who discover the birds should call the RSPCA immediately on 0300 1234 999.

This appears to be due to a ship dumping its waste, or so are led to believe. I wonder if this was the Reason behind dogs getting sick at east coast beaches recently on the island? Something must've been washed up onto these beaches, with dogs ingesting through eating seaweed, shells, etc.
