A TEENAGER was left shaken after she was thrown from a horse on an Isle of Wight beach yesterday morning (Thursday).

The horse tripped as they galloped through the surf at Ryde Beach throwing the 18-year-old girl from the saddle.

She was dragged for a short distance, before the horse bolted free, and ran on to the road despite the efforts of a fellow rider to catch him.

The horse was eventually caught in Well Street, about 1km away, and was uninjured according to the teenage rider, who asked not to be named.

"I’ve ridden on that stretch of beach since I was four or five.

"Lots of riders use the beach, especially at this time of year.

"We only go down there when we know that it is quiet," she said.

The drama was captured by Stephen Greszczyszyn who was on the beach taking photographs when it happened.

Police said they were aware of the incident, but no action was being taken.
