Erith & Belvedere recorded their first win of the year at Spalding on Saturday thanks as much to Fisher Atletic as much as Darren Adams' last-gasp winner!

Confused? What happened was the Deres coach broke down en route to the Lincolnshire side's ground, Deres officials rang their counterparts with Fisher, who were playing at nearby Stamford.

Fisher generously sent their coach back to pick up the Erith & Belevdere squad and took them to Spalding, where the match started 40 minutes late.

But the Deres, who have won more times on their travels than any other team in the league, went behind after just six minutes when Kevin Ward managed to get to the by-line before he pulled the ball back across the goal for Lee Sowerby to lash the ball in.

But it took the Deres just six minutes to level through the reliable Glen Billenness, who deserted his defensive duties to join the attack for Chris Whitehouse's free-kick and head the equaliser beyond Damien Steer in the home goal.

The Deres then took the lead on the hour when Richard Verseci netted from close-range.

Spalding rarely threatened the Deres goal from that point until a minute from the end of normal time, when Bobby Lewsam went past three defenders before firing an unstoppable shot into the far corner.

But with only stoppage time remaining and Spalding still congratulating themselves at having levelled, the Deres launched one last attack.

They worked the ball into the Spalding penalty box and found Adams, who turned brilliantly before shooting a superb shot past Steer for the winner.
