Woolwich Polytechnic put up a valiant display in defeat against Chingford in the London Cup Final.
The match was scheduled to have been played at the end of last term but bad weather caused its postponement.
The rearranged game took place at he ground of Purfleet Football Club, watched by a number of scouts representing Premiership clubs including West Ham.
Chingford asserted their command in the first-half when they scored twice, but after the interval, Poly took the game to their opponents.
Poly dominated so much in the second period that goalkeeper Colin Lucus was mainly a spectator as the team, led by captain Ben Wlliams did everything but score.
Others to impress were Alieu Jallow, who led the forward line in style, along with defenders Craig Penfold and Frankie Chappell.
Stephen Ayres almost pulled a goal back for Poly near the end, but his effort was charged down by a last-ditch challenge by a Chingford defender, while Stephen Wetherly shot wide when well placed.
Polytechnic's coach Ken Cooke said: “I think that lack of match practice let us down.
“If we had played them at the end of last season, I feel we would have made fewer mistakes and been more fluent when going forward.”
