A PLANNING application to nearly double the size of Morrisons, at Lake, has been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
If the 15,000 square feet extension is given the go-ahead, it will create 30-50 jobs.
The application was made after a well-attended public exhibition at the store’s cafe saw 97 per cent of visitors supporting the bid.
One customer said: "The fact jobs will result will be a great bonus."
The extra space will be used to create wider aisles, a bigger cafe, more checkouts and allow for a greater choice of fresh produce at the store, in Newport Road.

Anyway, back on topic - Morrison's DOES need to increase it's size. Getting round it is dreadful and the Cafe has become so popular, it can't cope on certain days (especially pension days !!!) The only worry most observers seem to have is the marginal increase in parking. Let's hope they clamp down HARD on the front door parkers - now they, Mikey boy, are REALLY annoying........do you agree???

by DAVE SCOTT7th January 2013, at 17:23:45To make myself clear Mr. Crowe - I have NO interest whatsoever in your on-line antics - an earlier comment was made about the Island's ex BNP leader, I did a Google Search on your name and Mr.Clynch. I am now satisfied as to who the ex BNP laddie is, but I was amazed at how much content there is on Mike Crowe. Don't know if it's ALL you, I only read the first two entries - but that was enough to make my mind up that, IF I was a stalker, then YOU would be WAY DOWN my target list !!!! However I and the other more 'setlled' Islanders will continue to 'underscore' your often ludicrous posts. Now - where's that Bridge we were all promised........REPEAT, I am NOT stalking you.Noted

Dave I see you are trying to be funny. Sorry it doesn't work and if this is a practice run to you taking up as a comic for a living, give up now, you will starve to death.

When we have the famous Crowe Bridge we can all shop in Pennington, Gosport or Southsea, so why should we extend Morrisons. It can't just be to make jobs for Immigrants, and build the south's first HALAL meat counter - no, it is surely the case that Pugh, seen recently in Bradford, was collecting his usual bung' from Morrisons HQ (as well as conversing with immigrants !!) AND, he was making calls on his mobile to Giddings too. I, for one, smell a rat - you just have to look at the wider picture and think outside the box .....
