Palace's ice man Hermann Hreidars-son rightly earned all the praise for his superb performance against the Gooners at Highbury but the talented young Icelandic international has been outstanding for Palace all season.

His tenacious tackling, man to man marking skills and boundless enthusiasm have been a feature of the Eagles' return to the Premiership since his debut against Wimbledon.

Hreidarsson's efforts on Sunday won him the man of the match award where his superb shackling of Dennis Bergkamp clearly riled the whinging Dutchman, as it did at Selhurst Park earlier in the season.

It also left boss Steve Coppell grinning smugly about his bargain of the season and hoping for a repeat performance in the return at Selhurst next Wednesday and the league clash this weekend. He has consistently been the one outstanding player and has come through from nowhere.

"He has adapted to life in the Premiership and London very well."
