ISLAND scouts and guides of all ages enjoyed a reunion barbecue to raise funds for next year’s World Scout Jamboree.

Held at Hasley Manor last Wednesday, the event was hosted by manor owner and county commissioner Anthony Roberts.

As well as the barbecue — prepared by the team set to travel to Sweden for the jamboree — guests were also treated to a tour of the manor.

Malcolm Cox, project co-ordinator at the Isle of Wight Scouting Active Support Unit, said the barbecue was a great success.

"More than 80 people came along and we raised several hundred pounds," he said.

"It was lots of fun and it was wonderful to see everyone get together."

A team of 18 scouts and two leaders from the Island will be attending the jamboree. Each has to raise £2,011 to cover their costs.
