Screenwriter makes it to Mexico

Isle of Wight screenwriter Ollie Williams, who has travelled to Mexico for the Oaxaca Film Festival.

A YOUNG screenwriter and film-maker has travelled to Mexico to take part in an international film festival, thanks to support from people on the Isle of Wight.

After his script was chosen for the shortlist by judges at the Oaxaca Film Festival, Ollie Williams was invited to attend the festival.

As reported by the County Press, Ollie, 22, of Great Preston Road, Ryde, then appealed for help to raise enough cash to make the trip and in return offered Islanders the chance to feature in his future work.

In return for supporting his trip he offered to write screenplays for people and even create characters named after them.

Ollie raised the £2,000 he needed and is now in Mexico, where his screenplay My Navy Blue Summer is up against films from around the globe.
