AN UNUSUAL visitor caused a stir on Ventnor beach today (Wednesday).

Isle of Wight filmmaker Arron Swaffer, of The Nutters Productions, spotted this seal close to Ventnor bandstand.

"It bounced up on to the shingle on Ventnor beach, a very rare sight.

"He or she seemed quite friendly, coming right up close to the odd few who were on the beach at the time. A small crowd gathered and a group of local builders even jumped down from the scaffolding on the hotel across the road to come and have a look.

"The seal stayed for a few minutes posing happily for photographs and then ventured back into the sea," said Arron, of Shanklin.

Luckily it has the good sense to get back in the sea before a Ventnor Blog correspondent turned up to try and embroil it in a conspiracy theory.
