PEDESTRIAN and motorist safety will be increased with the removal of a roundabout.
Road improvements at the top of Anerley Hill will see the roundabout replaced with new signs and kerbs.
The work is part of a £2m project to help release Upper Norwood from the grip of traffic congestion, but will also affect parts of Anerley.
The project starts in February and will take about a year to complete.
Chairman of the Crystal Palace Partnership councillor Chris Gaster said: "The intention is to reduce the impact of traffic congestion which will improve conditions for pedestrians and shoppers, improve the efficiency of public transport and other local road users and support the local economy."
He added: "York Stone paving will improve the setting of the buildings within the area."
